Meet Africa's 50 Richest 2016

Africa's current richest man, Aliko Dangote
The 2016 Africa's Richlist is officially out according to forbes. Africa has come a long way as one of the most endowed continent in terms of natural resources, from crude oil, gold, diamond, copper, bauxite,rubber...only to name a few.

The continent has maintained steady growth for several years but the fall in the price of some of these commodities especially crude oil has taken a toll on its economy

Most of the African Billionaires control majority of one or a combination of these natural resources, meaning that the fall in their prices have a direct effect to their net worth.

As a group, the continent’s wealthiest 50 are worth $95.6 billion, a decline of $15 billion from a year ago.  Aliko Dangote of Nigeria retains his spot as number one richest African for the fifth year in a row, but his $16.7 billion net worth is nearly $5 billion lower than a year ago, a result of a drop in the stock price at his Dangote Cement and a weaker Nigerian currency.
